Cían was a God of agriculture, the favourite son of Dian Cecht and the biological father of Lugh Lámfhada. Lugh has few memories of his father, as he was murdered when Lugh was only a few years old. Cían was friendly and well-liked by his fellow Gods, and, from what little Lugh can recall, a good father. Unfortunately, not all of the Tuatha Dé Danann liked him. The families of Dian Cecht and Tuireann, a sky God, had a feud spanning several generations. Tensions boiled over, resulting in the death of Cían at the hands of Tuireann's three sons, Brian, Iuchar and Iucharba. Lugh, now an orphan, was taken in by Mannanán mac Lir. Now all Lugh has of his biological father are a few faint memories, and the spear Gae Assail, which Cían himself once wielded.
